Hi Charles, with ACAD comes a shuttle.dwg (in the samples directory). Wouldn't that be what you need? Its fairly detailed with fuel scoop, boosters and launch platform. If you have no access to ACAD I could send you a dxf file… Bye Michael

Thanks for the information. I'm looking for the Orbiter portion especially, so the whole pad drawing would contain that portion. I don't have access to ACAD myself so I'd appreciate a dxf file. I am doing reseach for our project but am not well versed in CAD. If you could e-mail me the file, or if it is too big and needs to be send, my address is: Arte Bella, Inc. 11059 McCormick St. No. Hollywood, CA 91601 Let me know if theer would be any costs we could cover for disc or mailing. Thanks very much, Charlie Carr

CHARLES, Just in case you haven't obtained a decent mesh of the orbiter yet… See message #149994 in the "My contest you hate" thread from JKJ to Dr. Pixel: <<So here's my deal for you: my entry is the "long forgotton" model of the space shuttle on the 3DS CD-ROM (geometry/clipanim/shuttle2.3ds – the one that launches the JKJ satelite). They accidentally screwed up two of the maps in the CD authoring process, so you can have the pleasure of "polishing" it as necessary. <g> I did it a long time ago before I learned many clever things, so it is not my best work. I already gave it away, so it's easy to do it again.>> I just tried to JKJ, but he's on a bidnes trip right now. I'm sure if he was here, and knew you were looking, he'd direct you to the shuttle he contributed to the WCT. Get this orbiter mesh. It's very well done and has opening cargo bay doors, all significant details, and good maps. You can use this model "as is" right out of the box without any .DXF to .3DS from ACAD conversion fun. Try it, you'll like it. …B. P.S. Be sure to send thanks and compliments to JKJ at 71174,711

That's only a 2D drawing of the shuttle. Lots of people have made the mistake of translating it to another format and wondering why the shuttle is flat, after all, it looking 3D. 🙂

John, The shuttle drawing that was 2D came with R10 and was COLUMBIA.DWG. There *is* a 3D drawing of the shuttle, boosters, and launchpad called SHUTTLE.DWG that comes with R12. John
