Donald, I have been gone for a week. How is it going? This news summary would be helpful — how do we do it? Sanford

Donald, Back again…muy thoughts on the Newsletter. I am trying to come up with a few simple paragraphs on each of these subjects. If you are interested, I will send a rough version of parts of it by e-mail. I think everybody would like to know how we are going to upload our projects. I'm still looking for the answer. Have you caught anything solid about uploads of mesh files other than the news item posted in the forum? How about a "Showcase progress" section? Sanford

Sanford, << I'm still looking for the answer. Have you caught anything solid about uploads of mesh files other than the news item posted in the forum? How about a "Showcase progress" section?>> I have seen little, other than the bullitens, on the progress of the Showcase forum…otherwise, the StudioCity area has been silent most of the time that you were gone. Last weekend however, I had a long E-Mail conversation with John Ellis… He has carefully thought through a number of the practical issues concerning artists rights, commercialization etc. I will endeavor to share some of these ideas in coming messages. One key proposal that he made, was that the project should have a private library, open only to participants, for exchanging meshes, project files and works in progress. The private library would be the only way that we could have some measure of security for the meshes and control over how they are released. The idea would be to create a "protected environment" for the artists and animators involved on the project. With restricted acess to the project files, we could avoid a "free-for-all" downloading of meshes. At regular intervals, we could release images and/or meshes to the public library to celebrate and enjoy. -Donald Newlands
