Does anyone know what the requirements are for getting a job as an earth
science professor at a community college? I'm in my first semester of graduate
school, majoring in geophysics, and my undergraduate degree is in aerospace
engineering. Is there any special direction that I should tailor my coursework?
I'd appreciate any information you can give me. Thanks!
RE requirements for community college. Here in CA, they are rather loose.
With a master's degree, you can get a lifetime CC credential in your topics of
degree or significant minors. For instance, I have credentials for geology,
geophysics, math, and geography but have never used them. There are more and
more doctorates in the CC systems as the job market in larger colleges and
private firms is tighter. I imagine it varies from state to state and usually,
if they need and want you, you can even get a waiver from a credential for some
timer period. Other states may be tighter with experience requirements, etc.

Greg- Here in New York things are pretty simple. You need a master's degree
in your field, and from there it's not what you know, but who you know. Chris
