#Probs w/ PPC Versions

Jim,
I did do some partial tests with the Clam.cho. Both the computers have 32 megs
of RAM. Both run Windows for Workgroups and the 32 bit file acces was enabled.
The project files were copied over and not used over the network. The basic
antialised 640×480 took 3.24 min in DOS on 486-66DX2.
The Pentium 90; 1.53 min in Windows and about 1.25 min in DOS (because of the
video problem I couldn't see the progress or the project infos so it was timed
by looking at the hard drive activity). With the motion blur in Windows the
frame took 5.36 minutes…
It looks as if the P90 is a little over twice as fast as the DX2-66… The 5 to
1 speed ratios that were floating around just a few months ago proofed to be
unreal. It seems, that for the rendering speed the P90 does have a little edge
over the PowerMac for now, though…

Pawel,
Thanks for running the tests, it will help me with my next purchase!
I hope you get your video card problems worked out soon, its no fun having a
new toy not work correctly!

Yes, those things do get on your nerves… I have been around long enough not
to expect too much from things that just appeared on the matket… My little
Wacom ArtPad (small, but pressure sensitive for $150) problem just got fixed,
so pretty soon I'll be dangerous… <g>
