Hi Steve: You were nice enough to send me a replacement copy of Playmation when I'd had a slight catastrophe recently, and I have a couple of questions. I have gotten my system back up to a working level and was reinstalling some things finally and went to reinstall Playamation and keep getting the response "Not enough memory, close some windows.." etc… even when I've closed everything possible. I'm running a 486-40mhz with 4mb ram, so I'm not sure if this is a problem with Playmation or if it requires more ram than 4mb? Any ideas on what my problem might be? Also, is there a way to make a back up copy of this disk (just wanted to be safe, but can't seem to make it work)? Also, out of curiousity, what's an upgrade cost these days, and what is the latest version if I want to upgrade it? Maybe not too much I hope 🙂 Thanks again… Chris L.

Christian, Sorry for butting in, however, you might want to check two things: 1. The virtual memory settings found under in MAIN/CONTROL PANEL. The more the better here. 2. The Smartdrive settings in your boot up. with 4 mb of ram, you probably don't want a very big smartdrive if at all. $02, AD

Ditto on what Adam said…. Playmation just barely runs with 4MB of ram so you will really have to juggle your system… as for the price of upgrades… Playmation ver 2 is $100.00 A:M is $400.00… you should have no problem making copies of your disks… they aren't protected, they're just normal floppies… Steve, Hash Inc.

Thanks to you, Steve and Adam… I'll go back and check my settings and try again. As for copying, there was just one directory that was zipped that when copied, would not get any of the info inside the zip. Wierd…but I'll try it once again just to be sure. Thanks.. Chris

Hi Steve: Well, I took the Playmation disk over to a friends house who has 16mb of ram and tried to see if it would install and it gave him the same response.. "not enough memory…close some windows..etc". Also trying to unzip the files themselves seemed to give CRC errors? We were trying to see if we could just install the files and get it to run, but it still seems that there is something missing as we got the same problem on both systems. Have you had any previous experiences with anything like this? The CRC errors on the zipped file also made me wonder if that had something to do with why when I tried to back up the disk I couldn't get one of the zipped files to copy cleanly…it's why I thought maybe it was protected or something. Any ideas will be appreciated. Thanks. Chris L.

Hi Steve: That would be nice if you wouldn't mind..but give me one more shot at it and if I still can't get it to work I'll write back. It's really bizarre, but I'll try it once more (I wouldn't mind figuring this out!). If you like I could send this one back if you want to check it out. Thanks. Chris
