Hi, I had visited your booth at Las Vegas (Comdex) and spoke with one of our software engineers. He mentioned a couple things that I wanted to verify: 1) In Jan-Feb. a new version of Anim. Master will be released that will run-on NT (Intel). In its native mode. 2) The new version will be based on OpenGL. 3) Boolean cutters will be supported. In addition, is Hash going to put a real-time (color) modeling preview feature in? I saw a great one in Calagari's True Space product. Thanks Erik Kellener

Yes to all except the real time renderer… we haven't been able to master this one yet… this is more a HW thing and we haven't found anything we were happy with… Steve, Hash Inc.

Great! But is Aninmation Master comming Jan or Feb? The reason I so anxious is because I've been wanting to create a proper texture for my T-REX model (it's in your forum). Right now I have Playmation so I don't have the Decal module. I thought of getting the DOS version but but would rather have a 32 bit NT version. Keep me posted as it's progress and when it comes out I'll be the first one to buy it.

Regarding an impending – I hope :{) – NT release of A:M, I have a few questions. They are prompted because I am involved in a long form project that involves a lot of character movement. I am handling the animation portion, my partner is doing the modelling. Right now, he likes polygon modellers and wants to see us use Imagine or more likely, the new version of LW due out about the same time – or earlier :{( – as the anim guy though, I like Playmation. I must convince him he is misguided… 1. Will the NT version be faster than Playmation 2.07 (other things being equal) Please don't say 'It's 32 bit, that's 16 more than regular windows!' I understand the immediate gains possible in that respect, but have there been timings made, or are things that far along yet? 2. Will the sculpture module be altered? I think it's fine, but you know who enjoys esoteric interfaces for some reason. 3. How will networking be supported? what are the requirements for network rendering? Will the workstations have to be NT 3.5 also, how about Windows '95? (which BTW, is pretty cool in the latest beta). 4. If your Post product is part of the new A:M, what are its features? Will It replace the need for stuff like Photoshop, etc., or work alongside them? 5. In Martin's minutes he said he works for Microsoft on a 3d thing. Is that still true? Are there any ties (that you can discuss) between Microsoft and Hash Enterprises? 6. The old saw… When will it be out? Thank you for your time, love Playmation, AD

Yes, the NT version will be optimized for the specific platform so it will be faster.. should be out around March… there will be no changes to the modeler except for the new "look" to the interface… We have NO affiliation with Microsoft at this time….Yes, Post will be part of the new release it will work with Photoshop etc, NOT replace them…How will networking be supported? don't know excactly yet…. Hope I covered everything… Steve, Hash Inc.

Steve, Thank you for a prompt reply, I'll just have to bash my partner over the head with a frozen tuna a few times, and he should come around <g>. AD

>Your wish is our command! The Dec Alpha versin will be available in about a month! < Sounds wonderful. What's this I hear about A:M getting an interface rehaul? Is this rumor, or fact? Will A:M work on dual Pentium processors (multithreaded rendering)? Keep up the cutting edge work.. glad to see new stuff like Alpha's/NT/etc. supported. Have any rendering comparisons between a dual Pentium vs. an Alpha? (pref. a 233) Full raytracing, the whole deal.. 🙂 I'd be interested in what kind of speed you get from the Alpha vs. 2 P90's.. (That's my debate at this time.. Alpha or dual Pentium..) JNJ

Yes, we are just about wrapping up a MAJOR interface redo… all integrated into one app, very comfortable Photoshop3 /Corel5 style interface! No multithreaded version yet and no benchmarks… Steve, Hash Inc.

>Yes, we are just about wrapping up a MAJOR interface redo… all integrated into one app, very comfortable Photoshop3 /Corel5 style interface! No multithreaded version yet and no benchmarks… < Any Truetype support yet? Any new features outside of Character stuff? I'll have to take a look at this new release.. mabe I'll update my 1.48 playmation. 🙂 I went to 3DS after the hassles of those earlier versions. (3DS has only crashed on me 1 time.. <g>) Your new app sounds interesting. Let me know when it'll be out. (and I vote strongly in favor of multithreading.. especially in the renderer.) JNJ
