#Field Rendering
8 messages in this thread
Hi,
Does A:M render odd fields first or even fields?
Thanks,
Jim Jonah
Jim,
If I understand the concept correctly, it renders both, one odd and then
one even, both fields then equal one frame.

Michael, Yes, that's correct… field rendering is also divided into upper and
lower field dominant rendering… right now A:M is lower field dominant… in
the next version you will be able to specify which field is dominant….

Steve,
Would you consider the lower field to be odd or even. That is how premiere
specifics which field is rendered first. Not have a large video background, I
am under the impression that the Odd field should be rendered first, is that
true?
Thanks,
Jim
Odd/even is an older naming convention synonymous with upper/lower… zero is
the upper field and even. One is the lower field and odd…. I've never heard
that odd should be specifically rendered first….

Steve,
I just reread the Premiere manual on this, Premiere is calling it "field 1" or
"field 2" and states that the Radius board VideoVisionStudio requires "field
1". It looks like I interpreted this wrong. Maybe "field 1" is the first field
being rendered (zero, upper) and "field 2" is 1, lower. Go figure, 1 is zero,
and 2 is one, AHHHHHHH!!!! No wonder I'm so confused!<G>.
On the PowerMac, I tried render a 460 x 480 photo, w/fields to Targa (and
32-bit quicktime), no optimized palette and both showing the window and not
showing it. It seems as if the odd field is getting wigged out when the frame
is saved to disk. It appears to draw correctly on screen when rendering, but
when I open the frame in photoshop, simpleplayer, or Debabelizer, the odd lines
are screwed up, the even lines are fine! Is it me?
Thanks,
Jim
ROTFL!! It's not you…. It so happens that field rendering is, ahh…. busted
on the Powermac…. stop pulling your hair out… we'll have it fixed quick!
