#Ready Made Models
2 messages in this thread
I have Animation Master (from Art Electric here in the UK) and was thinking of
buying some ready made models for the boring props and stuff so I can
concentrate on building characters. I noticed Viewpoint DataLabs offer their
models in Playmation format (I suppose they mean SEG format) but I wondered,
since they are probably polygon-derived, if they are so large as to be
unworkable. I recently imported a 5000+ point DXF and it took 45 minutes and
was impossible to work with (only a 33MHz 486 PC- but even so). So my 3
questions are:
Do you know if the Viewpoint people reduce the control points in their
Playmation format models to make proper use of spline features?
Can you recommend a sensible maximum number of polygon vertices for import?
Is there a good supplier of proper ready-made spline models for Playmation or
A:M, as opposed to just conversions from polygon models?
Any info. would be much appreciated.
Viewpoint does not provide their models in .seg format they are simply DXF
format files and you can't import one larger than 200k…. no data reduction
either…
