Digi-View 4.0 has new features, one of them is Dynamic HiRes, allowing
upto 4,096 colors in a single HiRes image. You can upgrade by calling NewTek
or sending in $30.95 ($24.95+$6 s/h).
To use a color source, you would need a color splitter available from a
few different sources.
If you wanted to use different hardware, there are some frame grabbers
currently on the market that will grab images from the sources you mention. In
the native amiga mode, you are limited to 16 colors in HiRes.

Would a color splitter also be needed for the Zapshot?
I guess the Sunrise RGB color splitter is necessary. Does anyone have
any experience using one with digiview? Also on Newteks demo reel 3 there
is an animation of woman (Maxheadroomm style), how is this done?

Regarding the XapShot and Digi-View…to use any color composite source
you would need a color splitter. A few video sources have the abiltiy to
selectivly send the R,G and B information, but for ones that do not, the color
splitter gives that capability. In many cases the color video source will not
be as clear as using a filtered black and white source. (Not in all, but many).
At this time, I know of two color splitters. The one you have mentioned
(SunRize Industries Color Splitter) is now being marketed by MicroSearch.
Another unit, the ProRes Color Splitter from The DeskTop Advantage, is supposed
to be available now. There might be others available at this time. (In the
european market, there are a few more advertized).
The animation of Laura "Maxine" Longfellow was done using Digi-View and
multiple images of Laura.
Oh, before I forget, the Canon XapShot displays one field of
information (half a frame) and is not stable enough for Digi-View to capture a
quality image. This is a limitation of most Digital Still Cameras. There are
some devices available that will correct this. I believe Canon has one
available.

Thanks for the reply. It sure is an impressive demo (Newtek's Demo
reel 3). What I was hoping to do is to carry the Zapshot around at work,
taking pictures of problems and then import them into (of course!) Digiview
and add text, arrows,…. and use them for presentations.
