#DXF in bug
7 messages in this thread
Hi,
I guess you already know but I found a bug in the DXF import. When I use "new
entity -> new object" the object get's loaded fine. But right after one
object(s) are drawn on the screen Imagine falls into a endless loop and the
Busy cursor stays on. It's not locking up, it looks a lot like a loop.

David,
I ran across that also. But I think ONLY when I select that and nothing else.
When I click on LAYER CHANGE->NEW OBJECT & COLOR CHANGE->NEW OBJECT everything
goes fine.
Is that pretty much when you encounter it?

Have to check it out. Maybe it does work when I check one of the other boxes,
too. I just converted another 100 objects from various formats to DXF that I
plan to upload to COMANIM. I just wanted to check if they load fine into IM
having layers separated. I'll check it one more time. I found some great
object like world maps and also one good human that I haven't seen before.
All from internet.
BTW check out the converter over in Graphdev. wct2pov or something. It's free
and converts some of the odd formats found on the internet. WinZIP and wct2pov
is the best duo for files from internet. WinZIP extracts all archives (.Z
.tar .ZIP .ARJ .LHA whatever) and wct2pov converts them.

David,
Thats great! Looking forward to checking out the files. I've been cruising
the internet also…but many files are part of collections I need to get
permission first before I upload. Many of them do not specify if they are for
redistribution. And just having them in a public directory on an internet site
doesn't mean I can upoad them here.
I have WC2POV, and it works great. I also got another program from a site that
creates Stereo Lithography data. WC2POV doesn't work with Sense8's nff format,
so I had to write a small basic program to convert them to Eric Haimes' nff
format so that WC2POV would convert them.

You are a lot a avalon I guess? <g>
-David
Yep,
I pretty much got everything from Avalon that I wanted or didn't have already.
Know of any other good sites? I already checked Aminet and ftp.netnet.net, but
there's nothing new there. <g>

No I don't know any other places. I'll ask a friend. He is on the internet for
a long time now and he's a 3D fan, too. I'll let you know.
