#TGA Bug in 3.1

I'm using Imagine 3.1 on the PC, and have recently had the need to output TGA
format images. I get an output error during the cleanup on the rendered frame,
which I believe is a bug (which was being spoken of when 3.1 was first
released).
Is there a fix? How do I get it?

For the time being save it as TIF and convert it with a 3rd party program.
Imagine 3.2 is being wrapped up, and it has been fixed.

Do you know of a program that does a batch convert of Tiff files to TGA while
keeping in a numpic series? Or possibly a utility like VFD which creates an AVI
file from a numpic series of Tiff files? Either one will solve my problem of
creating AVI files with Imagine. I've tried to convert the FLC files I create
with Imagine to AVI using VFD, but I always get a poor image with static in the
background.
While I've got you reading, how about another question: Do you know of a good
source for "Dungeon-esque" textures (tilable) such as stone, brick, Dungeon
floors & walls, etc?

Paint Shop Pro has a batch converting utility built in. Since the stills will
be name PIC00001.tif, PIC00002.tif, etc, the converted images will retain the
names and only the extentions will change to .TGA, or whatever other format you
decide to convert to. PSP is a windows Shareware product, and can be found in
GRAPHSUP forum.
You can also ask over in COMANIM about utilities to create AVI files directly
from TIF images.

Not specifically, but check in the GUGRPA forum..do a browse with the keyword
"TEXTURE". A few files should pop up that have a collection of image maps that
are tileable. Some of them do include stones, and bricks, and such things. If
you have difficulty locating them let me know.

Thanks, my next one should be a tad better…I have a beautiful looking
African-American woman I am creating. To answer your question, that would
probably be tough to find, only because the image maps are usually created to
snuggly fit the object that they are mapped to. What I do is scan a well lit
frontal face shot. I then use a morphing program to WARP the face image to the
shape of a frontal rendering of the object. In the process I WARP the facial
features to fit the object…ie: move the lips, eyes, cheeckbones, eyebrows,
etc. to the proper location so they map properly.

Trevor, DTA can do this. I'm not sure exactly where you can find it at right
now (it used to be in graphdev before the forum split). Dta can do just about
everything in batch mode.

Imagine has a great brick/tile texture or do you need an image map
Specifically?

Sam,
DTA21 does not read in TIF images, so it's of no use to Trevor. It was my
first choice to recommend but after checking it, it has no TIF abilities other
than writing gray scale TIF's. Correct me if I'm wrong…but I'm pretty sure
on this.

I'll certainly give Paint Shop Pro a look.
On your comments about the face image wrap, I think I'll give it a try. The
only morphing software I have is that which ships with Corel 5 but it should be
ok. I assume you use trial and error in morphing the facial features around,
because you will need to render the image after each modification of the image
wrap in order to see how it looks. Luckily I have two computers, or I'd spend
half the time waiting for my computer to boot between windows and Imagine. (How
about Imagine for NT?)

Not at all. First render the face object head on, in the detail editor with
perspective set to 1. This will render the face with zero
depth/perspective…totally flat. You then WARP the scan of the face image to
this Quickrender image. When you set up the meshes for both images in the
morphing software you align the shape of the face and the features from the
scan to the rendered image. Then when you warp the scan all the features move
to the exact location and shape you need them to.
