Application Error S3D
7 messages in this thread
I just started using S3D and so far I'm really impressed. It took me awhile to
get it running. I created a boot diskette based on the information in the book
and on the quick start guide however I'm still having problems. I keep getting
a windows error message "Application Error caused by a Page Fault in module
<unknow> 187F:C2EOEYES will close"
I can't find anything on this topic. I'm not getting GPF errors so I assume
I'm ok as far as the video driver goes (it's for a Diamond Speedstar
Pro–recently updated driver from vendor forum). Any adive on this type of
problem. HELP I really want to get going with this product.
Thanks.

It might be a resource issue. How much RAM and swap do you have? What version
of Windows are you running?

To answer your questions:
8 megs of RAM, swap 25353 KB, Windows 3.1–however, just for fun I put in my
old Genoa video card and by running Genoa drivers the program runs fine but I
wish I could use my newer video card (it's faster 2 megs of VRAM versus 1 meg
on the older Genoa) BTW the more I use S3D the more I like it–you guys did 1
hell of a job!
Hi Dennis:
I'm pleased your pleased.
You're saying your Page Fault in module [unknown] errors went away when you
changed video cards? Very strange; usually if a card is the culprit its driver
is named in the error (e.g. …caused a GPF in module [MY_VGA.DRV]). Which
resolution / color depth were you using when the problems occurred? Have you
tried other resolutions / color depths?

Lets see, I used SpeedStarPRO 800x600x16 small & large font
800x600x256 small & large font
I didn't try any other drivers. As I said, I bombed out before I could even
get into lesson 1 of the tutorial. Using the Genoa driver I'm on lesson 7 or
8,–everything appears to be very stable. I'm almost willing to stick with my
old video card just so I can run your program 🙂
Again, any advice is appreciated. Thanks for being so prompt with your
replies. In many of the other forums you sometimes wait for days for a
response, if at all.
>>I bombed out before I could even get into lesson 1 of the tutorial<< When
_exactly do you crash? As soon as the software loads, or as soon as you load
tutor1, or as soon as you press the "render" button for the first time?
Also, try the 800x600x65,000 color driver.
