#Simply 3D-Corel Objects
5 messages in this thread
I've just received my copy of Simply 3D. After installing it and reviewing the
demos I tried to bring our company logo into Simply 3D:
1. I exported it to an Adobe Illustrator 3.0 file with text as curves.
2. I loaded it up in Renderize EZ and said to load it as a 3D object.
it loads the file for about 30 seconds and then just exits the program. I
called up Kevin at Visual Software, Inc. and he said that it may be something
about the shapes that were used to create the logo. The logo is composed of an
ellipse with several arcs that create latitude and
longitude lines making the ellipse look like a simple globe. Placed on top of
the globe (superimposed) are the letters ECRC. I only used
gray and black and white in the logo. How can I modify the logo so that I can
bring it in for rendering and animation, etc…

Hello Scott:
If you can upload the AI or CDR file (pref CDR, I have 5.0) to me, I'd be happy
to look at it and get back to you. Upload it directly to my CServe address
74431,3611. If you can get it to me today, I can respond immediately; I'm out
of the office for most of the day tomorrow.

Nick,
I am having the same problem as above…
I'll try to upload the cdr later tonight (probably
talk to you next week).

I've taken our company logo as a .CDR file and saved it as a 2d AI file as
curves (AI Version 1.1). I have tried saving it as a 3D AI file and Simply 3d
doesn't like it. Maybe thats the problem??
I suggest doing it in each of the 3 choices of AI files, and always save as a
2d. You extrude it when you load it in Simply 3d.
– Just some food for thought.

Bob: I save as a 3.1 AI file. You might try this and see if you don't have
better luck.
