#Upgrade S3D to VR?

I'm confused over the current pricing of the Visual Reality product. I recently purchased Simply 3D, and I've been very happy with the software. I've considered "upgrading" to Visual Reality. The SRP of VR is listed as $595 in the enclosed brochure, and a $50 rebate coupon is also enclosed. So I could purchase the software directly from Visual Software for $595 – $50 = $545. I recently saw Visual Reality in our local Babbage's store marked down to $399. They have been unable to sell the product for several months, and have marked it down. Is the $50 rebate still valid? Can I purchase the software for $399 – $50 = $343, or over a $200 savings by purchasing locally? Is the price of the product still $595 SRP? Are there any other "upgrades?" I own Corel Draw, and I dimly remember an upgrade for Corel Draw owners. By the way, I enjoy creating 3D and ray-traced visuals for presentations within our computer department. I purchased Simply 3D for $49, and I do not see a 10-fold difference in features between Simply 3D and Visual Reality to justify the pricing difference. Am I missing something? If the product is geared towards commercial use, and priced accordingly, then I'm probably looking at the wrong product.

Hi Michael: Pricing: Yes, it's confusing and yes everything you indicated is the case. I would recommend calling Visua Software directly (800) 669-7318 to take advantage of our current promotion for Simply 3D users to get Visual reality for $395…And you can lay the $50 coupon on them also to bring it down to $345. Product comparison: Visual Reality indludes two additional applications: Visual Model, a polygonal3D modeler that supports boolean ops and other features to simplify the creation of 3D objects, and Visual iamge a layered bitmap editor. In addition, the version of Renderize Live included with Visual Reality supports bump mapping (using bitmap textures to define surface topography) and environmental reflection mapping: these material attributes increase the realism and subtlety of an image dramatically.. It also supports editing of polynormals, unlimited resolution output, and several other featrues that make it more useful in the "professional" market. Nick Josephs Visual Software

Check pricing at Egghead Software before you do anything. I don't work for Egghead but I think there pricing is better.

I haven't seen Visual Reality in Egghead yet, only Simply 3d. I have the latest Desktop Publishing Tools magazine (not quite sure of the name). Anyways, it has Visual Reality priced at $199!! I think I will order it from them.. Bob Kolosky Phase3 Software

Just thought you might like to know, if you have S3D, you can upgrade to VR for $149 directly from Visual at 800.881.4108.
