#Time to PAR?

My system just toasted itself, so I'm rebuilding from scratch. A PAR sounds great, but I've also got a brochure from DAEWOO International about MARS (MPEG Animation Recording System). Does anyone have any comparison info on these two? MARS doesn't need its own drive, and it stores 1 minute of audio/video in 10MB! The card plays MPEG from disk to TV/VCR in real time, with composite, SVHS and stereo audio outputs. It will also convert TGA, JPG, etc to MPG. The fact that it uses my HD is a plus, since I have a 4GB RAID in my system (which wasn't toasted, fortunately!) I am looking for a solution that will run under OS/2, as I can't imagine going back to DOS to do my 3DS work. But, if the best solution is DOS-only, I will at least hope for support from the MFGR so I can develop OS/2 support for the device (OS/2 device drivers really aren't too hard to write). If anyone has horror stories, or suggestions re: PAR, MARS, something else, I'd love to hear from you. — Doug Azzarito

Doug, >> If anyone has horror stories, or suggestions re: PAR, MARS, something else, I'd love to hear from you. I did a fairly extensive review of the MARS a couple weeks ago. I don't have it on this machine, (the review), so I'll email it to you later. I think I'll also post a copy in the libraries, as it's too long to keep sending as replies. Look for the file: MARSRV.TXT after it's merged to the libraries, probably in a few days. The PAR is substantially higher resolution, but check out what I found about the MARS anyway. I'll email you this evening. John
