Since my last message I have talked to CIS about the issue of the "free
flag" They tell my that the free flag did not go into effect until Jan 10,
1995. So that means it was operative for 6 days before they billed me. So
according to them I can now help to get things going without incurring major
costs. The bills I mentioned previously were the total for Nov. and Dec. 1994,
when there was a great deal of activity on this forum and I was fielding up to
20 mesages a day and replying to them in real time so that the threads would
not get mixed up.
I have talked to a sysop since then and I will use some different
methods to answer mail.
I have held off on the Newsletter until more was decided…but since we
are still in a waiting mode, I will post a test page of the Newsletter
tomorrow.
All of you who have retained your interest in Studio City are invited
to get involved with the Studio City newsletter. Thanks.

Well, I guess I have been fooling myself. The "free flag" is now gone,
and I'm back on full charges for this forum. Well, I got it for 6 days. Thanks.
I think someone should explain why Asoft still has not supported this
forum with the green light to upload…
Where is this "Showcase" library?

I'm sorry you have decided to stop the Studio City 2000 project, and I
apologize for the delays in opening the new forum, but, sometimes delays are
unavoidable. I'm also sorry that you feel there wasn't enough support for the
project, when we set up a message area for it, and arranged for a message area
and library in an Autodesk forum. There were technical reasons for closing the
libraries in ASOFT, and that had to do with physical limitations imposed by
CompuServe hardware and software, and not your project.
The Showcase forum will be open tomorrow, the GO word is "ASHOW".
Since you will no longer be needing the Message and Library areas in the new
forum, I will close them.

I don't think it is any one person's hands to stop the project, only to
join in or leave, although Sanford has certainly fulfilled a strong leadership
role.

Did you see my e-mail to you and Joe MacRae? There is still a lot of
interest in a collaborative project, and I am planning to go ahead with a "Main
Street" project. I had planned to use the StudioCity section, treating Main
Street as a "portal world" in relationship to the city as a whole. It will
also require a free flag for ASHOW in order to download and manage all of the
contributed .prj files. Please keep the door open. Thanks.

Studio City Closed? No, the Studio City project is not closed. I was
just pulling back until there was somewhere to put it. All the signs pointed to
never getting the project off the ground, so we were going to do it ourselves
privately. Perhaps now….with the Showcase open, the activity on this forum
will resume and some positive results can follow.

The flag was requested from Jan 6 to Feb 6 as the new forum was to be opened by
the 1st of February. When the new forum opens, we will be requesting flags for
the control group of StudioCity at that time or shortly after.

Thanks for coming forward. Nobody wants to see this project go away. It
has always been a high priority and I will participate happily. Finding some
way to upload is priority number one.

I was stopping back in to see how things were going and caught your
"Another Farewell" message from the 9th, then I read this thread from
the 10th. So, are you in or out? More than anything I was just
curious; for myself, I have used the time I've been away to model
quite a variety of stuff and to dig out some old projects. Anyway,
just curious…

I am in if there is a place for our work (showcase)…I was
just about to give up hope after many delays. Now things are getting
rolling again, but minus a lot of the technical arguments that bogged
it all down. Simplification and fun have become the catch words. I
hope all is well with you. I am planning to upload some structures
very soon.

All of us are going through a lot trying to make this Studio City
project happen. It is such a grand concept that I can't walk away if there is
a chance that we can really do it.
I hope you, and many of the other great people who have looked into
this forum will be here to explore the Showcase and forum in the near future.
I really want to see the architectural styles that express each individual.

There is a WinCIM spell checker in the WinCIM Support Forum (FREE)! There are
also tools there for managing your filing cabinet, printing threads and an
interesting one for composing messages in Word for Windows.

A spell checker ???? Sheesh….I dono??? I use a dictionary myself.

Spell Checker. I sometimes use big words and I don't want to
sit on line while I look them up. Donald N. said there is a spell
checker available from the WINCIM forum. This is an automated world,
after all. (g)
I have gotten along for many years without knowing how to spell well,
and it hasn't stopped me yet. My ego wants the spell checker, not me….

You're working online ???? Get one of the offline readers, most of the upgraded
CIM's will work offline. No wonder your account was killing you.
