Another PAR problem

Huh, there is another fundamental problem I'm not able to solve:
When I try to import a tga file to the PAR drive, the video output is scrambled
(not in sync somehow). Switching to fields instead of frame lets me at least
look at the picture (with the restrictions described in the manual) but the
picture is offset and shows colored stripes at the screen bottom. When I switch
to "field2" I can see half of each "half image" right and left margin meeting
in the middle of the screen and the two images are about 1/8 of the screen
hight appart.
When I export the PAL test color bars (from DPS BBS) to TGA files, they are
broken up afterwards (I do export as _frame_) and their size is 752×480 (!?).
The stills I like to import are 752×576 as described in the manual (I tried
752×568 as alternative, but without any success to solve my problem). I'm not
able to re-import those "exported" tga's.
Any hint for any overlooked switch is much appreciated!

Hello!! Are you sure you are using the PAL version of PARDRV.EXE? Sounds like
you may have the NTSC version loaded. It's a thought!

NTSC vs PAL… never thought of that. I'll talk to the DPS people today.
The new 1.50 driver should handle both NTSC+PAL. Still my problems remain. I've
seen the PAR in action at IMAGINA in Monte Carlo recently, four days later I
had it in my office… it just needs to runs properly now and I'll be happy. I
hope things are running well in Newport !?

No, there is a different PARDRV for both NTSC and PAL, should be 1.6.

I'll look for this, thanks. Anyway, I'm very impressed by the PAR – in working
mode that is… I hope that you are at least a little bit envious of PAL people
running a block size of 300+ <g>.

No, not in the least! Actually, I feel a bit sorry for them, because the PAR
only uses a byte to hold that information, which means that anything larger
than 255 is ignored, anyway! <RBG-Really Big Grin!> I wonder where they get
these crazy ideas that they are so special over there, anyway! <RBG>

… this is disappointing! but I guess I have to believe you… hopefully
they'll give it another byte in the future!

… talk about chocolate <g>! Special prices for special people also… I found
the PAL-PAR board alone for more than $ 4500.00 offered by a reseller here !!
On the other side: we already suffer from 25 FPS, so a little advantage
wouldn't harm, he?

It your own problem, Greg promised me to deliver one personal in Holland
for this price (ok including 1 visit to the Red Light district) but still.
And i lived 2 year in Zug and never found this district over there ?!

Tax in Holland 72%, in Zug 5,75 %. Reasons enough i think.
And we were working together with EDV-Zurich on a project to put MAI's
Basic Operatin System over to IBM, that's why.
But you really are living in a beautifull country…. and when the flood is
coming
i envy you, sitting on top of the hills, we are 5 meters below sealevel you 800
meters above.
But you cann't have it all i think

Yes, but you have higher resolution to make up for it. Since human eye can
only distinguish around 48 updates per second, and PAL with fields is 50, you
have the advantage of higher resolution without the disadvantages! And a
cleaner signal to boot! (NTSC = Never Twice the Same Color!)

It _was_ the NTSC pardrv.exe (the new version 1.50 caused the problem then….
the old version I got with the PAR wouldn't run first).
