Figure Substitution

Dear Hash or anybody I'm trying to do an animation of two dancing figures. I used the figure substitution procedure in the A.M. manual, that is, replacing a couple of dummy "Ghosts" with my chosen figures by editing the .fig file. Everything worked great, the new two-character Figure loaded in Action and I was able to create the first frame of the dance. I saved the 1-frame skeletal file and went to Direction to see what it looked like. The Figure loaded into direction OK but I got "File Ineligible" when I tried to load the skeletal file from the Action menu in Direction. Any ideas? I suspect it's something to do with where the .ske files are saved. It's driving me crazy!

The projects path is VERY important when doing figue substitution…. make sure that the figures you are substituting are in the same project folder as the rest of the pieces of the figure that has the substituted parts. This means some careful manipulation of your previous projects, but it's the only way to accomplish figure substitution. Steve, Hash Inc.

Thanks, I was starting to suspect that the problem was related to the Project structure. I'll do some re-organising. This makes new interactions between characters developed under previous Projects rather hard work. Any plans to change the Project system in the next release?

The "relative projects path" system of filing has been completely redone in version 3…. users who have had troubles with projects will bless us for this I think… It is basically just like any othe file chooser dialog now. Steve, Hash Inc.
