#OS Upgrade
4 messages in this thread
Steve,
I just found out that there is no upgrade from Windows 3.11 to Windows NT;
I have to cough up about $290 which I'm not sure I want to do. I would like to
take advantage of a 32 bit OS, but I'm not so sure that Warp is a good idea,
and who knows when Windows '95 will be released. I have a 486/66 with 16mb RAM.
Do you think that it is worth it performance-wise to go ahead with NT, Warp, or
just wait for Windows'95?

Thats a tough one! IMHO, NT is only suited to Pentiums with 32MB+ Ram…. I
have no experience with OS/2, except it's a ROYAL pain to configure…. You may
want to wait and see what WIN95 brings…

Hash (Steve?),
I have a coupla questions regarding A:M 3.0.
1. Are the Goraud and Phong options available in the renderer or as preview
only?
2. If not, can you give me any indication of how much faster the ray
tracing is?
3. Are there still plans to release a cd-rom of models and materials?
4. I KNOW you've answered this one before :{) What are Hash's OS
recomendations for
version 3.0: NT, Windows..?
Thanks for your time, AD
Steve,
That's kind of what I figured. As far as Warp, I can't really see the
point of buying one OS to operate another. The only reason I would try NT would
be because if I can get a job this year, I would look at buying a DEC Alpha.
