#NANAO – NO CARES !!
3 messages in this thread
In my search for a GREAT 21" COLOR MONITOR, I started various "threads" in this
and other Forums. I thank everyone who has responded so far! ALL your
comments and suggestions were very much appreciated. I have "narrowed" down my
search to three manufacturers, but six MODELS. I wanted to first "see" a
"side-by-side" comparison of the NANAO T2-20 (Trinitron) and the F760i-W
(Invar), so today I called the regional distributor (Connecticut Computer
Graphics) that Nanao sent along with the info. He is located 10 miles away
from me. He shocked me when he said he does not STOCK any NANAO's and
therefore could NOT "demonstrate" or "display" them. He did, however give me
the name of a RETAILER located about 25 miles from me. I called this RETAILER
(Advantage Outlet) and spoke with the person I was advised to ask for. When I
asked him if I could come in and "see" these two monitors on "display" he told
me; "sir……. would YOU buy a monitor with an "OPEN" UNSEALED BOX?" I
replied; "…..of course NOT !!" He said; "I DO NOT DISPLAY monitors. I only
make a $100 profit on each Nanao. Nanao DOES NOT offer a DEALER "DEMO"
program, so if you "know" what you want I'll sell it to you, in a sealed box,
for close to mail order prices." I said "goodbye" and then I CALLED NANAO
headquarters. I spoke first with a "Sales Rep." who said; " You can SEE the
Nanao monitors at Computer SHOWS like PC EXPO or perhaps at a friends site". I
then proceeded to get "switched" to the NATIONAL SALES MANAGER (Craig Sloss)
who basically said the SAME THING! He told me Nanao has NO CONTROL over who
the regional DISTRIBUTOR chooses who to sell to. He said if I wanted to "SEE"
these two monitors I could go down to NEW JERSEY (a FIVE hour drive for me!).
He apologized that as of YET, Nanao DOES NOT have a DEALER "DEMO" PROGRAM, but
is "working" on it. I know from the many "replies" on the Forums the Nanao's
are great monitors, but AM I ASKING TOO MUCH TO JUST "SEE" ONE BEFORE I SPEND
$2000.00 ON IT??

No you're not being unreasonable. I would say however that I own a 15" and a
17" that I use on my Mac and my PC, and I'm VERY happy with them. Brent Bonet –
