HELP!!! I need to know if there is anything faster than 230 bps for downloading
on compuserve? I have z-modem but am unable to use it here as far as i know.
Also my machine seems pretty slow will on line here. Is it my 500 running at
28mhz, or is it compuserve??? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Please send
mail to 76323,3677.

Stephen,
Well..it depends. What speed modem are you using? What speed is your
connection to CIS?
You're saying 230 bps…I presume that the 'b' stands for Bytes rather
than bits. 230 bits per second would be 23 bytes (or characters) per second.
That'd be a 300 baud connection.
230 Bytes per second is about 2300 bits per second or about 2400 baud.
ZModem (and xmodem for that fact) are fairly slow protocols, the fastes
protocol is Comppuserve B protocol.
Don
Stephen,
Are you connected to CompuServe with a faster modem? Are you calling a fast
CompuServe node? Some nodes handle 14400, others only 2400. If yours is a
2400 node (or modem), then 230 is probably about right.
