Are there any users of an Apple 300i CDROM drive that can tell me how the termination is set? The manual has NO technical info because this unit is supposed to be installed by an authorized tech. I want to add it to my Emplant. Thanks. Bill

I run an Apple 300 CDROM from my Emplant scsi port and the manual suggests termination to be on. Hank

Hank, Thank you for your reply…but how does one turn it on or off? Bill

On my unit in the rear, there is a two way switch to control termination on or off. Is yours an internal drive? If so, I would think the termination might be controllable thru software but am not sure. Don't you have any documentation with the unit? Hank

Hank, Yes, mine is an internal unit and the only documentation deals with how to insert and handle discs. These units are sold by Apple dealers as a "dealer to install" piece of hardware. I don't know of any reason why that would be true since CDROMs are not the most complicated item in the world. I've been able to install them on MSDOS machines and get them to work. I can work around this uncertainty by placing the drive before or after my harddrive which is the only other appliance on the internal side of the SCSI bus but I'd prefer to know what I have.

Bill; I guess its time to punt-call the technician at the Mac dealers. Sorry I can't be of help. Hank
