I have a friend that just bought an A2000HD with 60 meg hard drive. Although I haven't seen it yet he is having problems that sound as if they are related to the startup-sequence. I am going up Sunday to have a look at it and if I can't sort out the problem I may resort to reformatting the HD. Would this be a mistake? It is operating under 1.3. I have reformatted and manipulated my GVP unit many times using GVP's FastPrep software but I'm not sure that this will recognize his controller. I'm almost sure he has the original A2000 controller from about four years ago. What software should be used to reformat the HD if I need to do this as a last resort? Would AmigaDos FORMAT be sufficient if I don't repartition it? Greg

Greg, Yes, AmigaDOS's format command would be the proper command to use, but pray tell…why would you want to reformat because of some startup-sequence problems? Don

Well, I haven't seen it yet so I'm not sure it's just a startup-sequence problem but of course that wouldn't be a reason to reformat. I guess I just don't know exactly what I'm going to face so I'm trying to be prepared for anything. Reformatting is a last resort. Greg
