Nonetheless,
Klondike won't run because I can't find a modeId (what actually IS this?) in
the screenmode database. Maybe an AGA 256 colours PAL screen mode has a
specific modeId? As I only own an ECS system (+ Merlin), my PAL mode is
restricted to 16 colours in hires-lace, and my Merlin screenmodes (which DO
offer 256 colours in the corresponding screen sizes) probably have other
modeIds? Is that it? If so, is there a way to patch my system so the Merlin's
640x512x256colours mode is recognized my Klondike?
Thanks,

Klondike doesn't exactly use an 8bit mode, though, in that it displays 262k
colors rather than 256 through some hardware/software screwery. However, I'm
sure that someone here could provide you with the modeID of HAM8 Productivity
or HAM8 Super72, which are, I think, 2 of the modes offered by Klondike II.
