#Hard drive boot problem

I have installed a Western Digital drive into my A4000 but the spin-up time is
evidently too long (I can only "soft boot" off of it). I downloaded a utility
that allows me to adjust the time period to try to boot – but I discovered I
was already set at 2 seconds. Does anybody know if this time can be set
larger? Two seconds evidently is not sufficient for this drive.

I also have a 4000, with a 540 Meg. Seagate. I had the same problem. The
program you downloaded is for the 3000 only, it won't crash your 4000, it just
won't really do anything. I upgraded to WB 3.1, that seams to have corrected
the problem. On bootup my 4000 gets a software failure and reboots itself, I do
not know if this is how they fixed the slow spin-up problem or not, at least I
don't have to sit here and do a warm boot.

Thanks for the reply – although it was not the answer I was hoping for. It
seems silly to have to upgrade the OS to boot off a different hard drive (the
Seagate that came with my A4000 boots fine). I wasn't planning on upgrading
the OS. If need I guess I'll keep my smaller Seagate for my bootdrive. Thanks
for the info tho…
