Does anyone know how to get MS Windows 3.1 to recognize the 2386sx Bridgeboard
Amouse or AMouse3.DRV programs so I can switch my Amiga mouse between BB and
Amiga? AMouse works fine under MS-DOS 6.22 in both character and graphic mode,
but I have had no luck For what it is worth, I am running the BB graphics
through its own graphics card through a manual switchbox.
I have tried loading AMouse3.DRV as a device in config.sys, executing AMouse
and/or AMouse3.DRV in autoexec.bat and trying to launch either or both of those
programs from Windows or a C:\> prompt with no luck at all. I really dont want
to get a second mouse just to use with the Bridgeboard, but I have run out of
ideas.
Speaking of manual video monitor switches, can anyone direct me to the pin-outs
of the mini-DIN plug on the back of the 2386sx? Has anyone constructed a
software controllable monitor switch using that port?

As for using the Amouse driver, you can run setup from within the windows
directory at the dos prompt (not with windows running) and select amouse3.drv
as your mouse driver. I did this and got it to work…sort of. I need to be
able to start windows, exit windows, restart windows…well, you get the
picture…and could not get it to work properly for repeated windows sessions
without rebooting the BB. It did work fine if I stayed in windows once
started, though. That was using WFWG 3.1.
As for video switching, I have a multisync monitor hooked up to a Swift-Switch
from Elite MicroComputers. You can contact them here by sending CMail or a
message to David E Cinege 70322,447. He is also available over on GEnie. This
is a hardware & software combination that works great. Basically, the hardware
plugs into that DIN connector on the back of the BB as well as the two video
outputs and the monitor (three video cables of various genders) and a hot-key
switches to the BB window and back and is configurable for a few options.

Thanks for the information! When I get a Bridgeboard back up and running, I'll
follow your suggestion on running setup from the DOS prompt to get Window to
recognize Amouse3.DRV, as well as the Elite switch. Unfortunately, as I recount
in another message here, I seem to have fried my Bridgeboard…..If you know
how to interpret the series of beeps the Bridgeboard now makes when I try, and
fail, to start it, I'd be very grateful. Thanks again,

Sorry, can't help you there. Maybe Marion or one of the other BB experts here
can help?

You may be able to install it using the Windows Setup program, as Daniel
suggests. Once installed, it should stay installed–you shouldn't have to do it
each time. Otherwise, edit the SYSTEM.INI directly. Look for "MOUSE.DRV=" and
make it "MOUSE.DRV=AMOUSE3.DRV" Ditto what Daniel said about EMC.

Thanks Marion! I hope to get things up and going again soon. Unforumately, I
think I've fried my Bridgeboard, as explained more fully in another message.
Do you know how to interpret the series of beeps the Bridgeboard makes when it
refuses to boot? Thanks again for your help.

I printed a list of the beeps for various PC types in an issue of CROSSINGS. If
you tell me what the beeps are, I could try to look it up for you.
