Thanks goodness that ver 1.5 doesn't have that 895+ frame corruption when
backing up to any tape backup medium. I tested this morning & it's flawless.
Well, a small bug I found was that of the TBC4 software in Windows. If you do
any setting in Windows, save it, exit. Go to DOS PAR.EXE. The TBC4 settings
turned all to the maxium neg. values. It's quite annoying everytime you start
to do capturing. When I re-install it, works fine. So it's better to use the
RC-2000 instead.

Another problem came up. Do any of users have problem restoring direcly to the
PAR drive? I have. I just can't restore directly to the PAR, but have to put it
to DOS drive & copying back to par. Very inefficient process that's really
bugging me.

{I'm using a Wang DDS DAT w/ Corel SCSI 2.0 Tape Backup. The tapebackup pgm by
Corel is pretty weak, fair-avg. quality. The DAT was bought barebone so there
are no software that come with it. What would you recommend a good one so that
it's compatible with this older WangDAT model?}

Great to know it's all working out for you! A lot of work went into the
programs and drivers to make it so!

I also just installed the 1.50 version. until now i found only one bug in it
when you try to put the playback in slowmotion, the program comes up with
a message filesize = xxxxxxxkb, right over the FPS, so you can't read your
FPS-setting anymore. It still didn't solve my problem of RazorPro not been able
to
read the PAR-slavedrive.
Do you know if i have to chase In:Sync for this ?!

sorry for jumping in. but i have the same problem when playback in slow motion.
is this only in the PAL version ? any suggestions;

I only had it the first time I played back in slow motion (since installing
1.50), it never again afterwards and I played back probably 20 times already
since then.

I thought the same, but doing a warm boot the same thing happened again
also sometimes the PAR-directories appear in the DOS-window.

I don't think so, because PAL and NTSC in integrated now into the same
package. And….. more strange things are happening (it think it has to do
with the Memory Manager), all kinds of strange messages appear in the
PAR.EXE – window… and sometimes it put the PAR-directories in the
DOS-window.
I try to get this message over to the DPS-board and wait for their reaction.

Bug message file filesize = xxxxxxxb, That is the only bug I found so far, but
it is a harmless one, and I only had it once although doing a lot of slow
motions.
I'm getting my DAT this week got an HP C1533A, will test backups and restores
then.
Seems backup is solved.
BTW do you backup straight to DAT, and restore straight to PAR????

I backup and restore straight to my Colorado PowerTape 4GB, with the
standard software, and never had any problem (except the now solved >896
problem).

I have an idea for the PAR. What's your opinion on this.
I would like to see some form of RS-422 or RS-232 control for a future version
or accessory for existing PAR hardware. It would best be designed as an
emulation of a known DT VCR such as the PVW-2650. This way someone with a DT
controller could control the PAR in an online suite.
What do you think about this? I would buy another PAR to have this capability.
BTW: I just ran some tests today of some very clean Betacam SP footage shot
with a studio camera from NBC and did some slomo and CAV'd it back to beta
UVW-1800 via the PAR's CAV output. Recorded side by side to the original
footage we could hardly see the difference. I used BLF of 240 and QF of 17.
The Par drive was freshly formated.
The PVW-2650 slomo footage looked worse than the PAR. It was too shaky. How
about that?

I would love to see this, also! Hopefully the next PAR hardware revision? I
don't think this could be done with software.

Thanks for the earlier response about PAR v1.5 & Razor Pro doesn't support seq.
#'d *.JPG . I believe I have to spend more on hard drives. It's inevitable in
any direction you look at it.
Again, it's still a minor complaint that a $700 Razor Pro doesn't have *.JPG.
Hopefully someone at in:Sync is reading this & re-consider it.

I highly reccomend TAPEDISK….this actually makes your DAT work like a Hard
Disk.
You'll like the speed too. If your WANG DDS DAT is a non-compression type of
drive similiar to some of the TECMAR Drives with the WANG Hardware you'll see
10+MB per Min. on the Backup. You've also got to remember that Tapedisk also
allows you to use the DAT as a Hard Disk.
I'd be glad to mail you a brochure or some Demo Software.

I've got a HP C1533 DAT and was thinking about getting Tapedisk. I don't know
if I have much use for it though, especially at $250, ouch. Is it really worth
it?
When I copy a file from the PAR to my HD it seems to go slow. Though Tapedisk
might save the in between step when going from PAR->HD->DAT.
I've used similar programs on the Amiga that treat your DAT as a hard drive,
with the fast dir search of a DAT it isn't to bad. With 3DSR5 coming for NT
later in the year I won't be using FAT file system anymore so Tapedisk may have
limited life on my system.
You may want to talk to some of the great folks at TapeDisk Directly regarding

Will Tapedisk work with DDS-2 drives ? Or at least with DDS-1 tapes in a DDS-2
drive. So far I understood it only works with the older smaller drives.
I was told Tapedisk will support a HP C1533A, I have got one and plan to get
tapedisk.
BTW You can Contact Ralph Shevlar from the company producing Tapedisk online.
