#Student Response 3DS2-A
6 messages in this thread
Have completed the Glow and played around after completing the material in
3D32-A.. Some how I have lost one of my omni lights in Viewer, Left and Right.
I know it is there somewhere. But where? I am a real novice on this program and
enjoying the mind streaching ( and page turning) that this lesson has given me.
WOW! what at program!
So Greg..where is my light? Thought it probably is behind something and I
removed the camera from one view..Saw the light in the middle of the globe but
3DS says NO LIGHT THERE!. Thanks for the chance to learn and learn more about
this program.

Try Zooming to extents to find the light. This is one of the icons on the
bottom right of the screen. It has a Cube in it. Right click to update all
views. I hope this helps.

Thanks Greg, will try that. Took your advise after completing the lesson and
did my favorite thing. PLAY WITH THE PROGRAM. I learn best that way. Play and
then hit the docs. Not good for most but seems to work best for me. Will

Firstly press ALT+L then Right-click on the "zoom extents" icon in the bottom
right corner you should then see your lights and where they are. Just as a word
of advice; when you create the single light at the position of the camera use
Exclude to remove all other objects from it and likewise exclude the "glow"
object from all othe other lights. You only want to have the single light at
the camera illuminating the glow object otherwise you are going to have "weird"
looking glow.
To position the light at the exact position of the camera, go to the Keyframer
and use KeyInfo to obtain the exact position of the light at Key #1 then copy
these coordinates into the position for the light. The light will then be at
the same position as the camera. Then link the light to the camera so when the
camera moves the light goes alone with it.

Check that you have selected the right "type" of light before you select it.
