#motion template?

Is there a way in 3dsr4 to apply different objects for the same
motion setup without recreating the animation( motion) again for
similar objects? Say change a man walking to a woman walking? I
don't know what is the best approach to this, or if it possible
without possibly scripting?
Hi Mei-Tien,

You don't have to do the scripting just use the scripts that are included with
R4. Use NodeHold and then NodeFetch, it should do exacly what you are looking
for.

Jonas,
Wouldn't object/tracks/copy work in many instances? I'm scriptaphobic for
the time being. <g>

Hi Paul,

No scriptaphobia here.. I'm hyper-script-attracted for the time being! ;-]

Jonas,
That is great! I will look it up.
Thanks.

In addition to what Jonas said, you should read up on the File Insert
option in the keyframer.

PS: It's in the Tracks command branch.
I thought the "file insert" is to add animtion to another animation like the
bird walk example in the tutorial. Are you saying there is a way just to import
a .3ds file with different objects but using the same names to achieve what I
was looking for? Worth looking into. Am I on the right track?
Thanks.

Hi Mei-Tien,
<<Worth looking into. Am I on the right track?..>>
Sure.. See pg 8-70 in the Ref. Man.

Jonas,
Thanks a lot, I find it. I guess there are still a lot of features of
3DS that I have not mastered yet, amazing.

You bet! It sure is feature rich, and with the every growing number
of Plug-Ins, and scripts, there are always *new* features/techniques
to learn too…
