Am trying to cut a spiral space out of a unusually shaped vessel. I
have constructed a spiral tube but am having quite a time getting it
to conform to the exterior of the vessel so that I can boolean
subtract, leaving the vessel with acontinuous slot through its sides
from bottom to top. Is there a way to construct a "cutter" for this
procedure by using the "data" from the location of the vertices of
the vessel (x,y,z)? Or am I spinning my wheels here (not so unusual
in itself)? thnaks all ian mckay
Hi, Ian. Did you loft the "spiral tube" in the lofter using a helix
path? If so, this should work as a boolean "cutter" as long as its
length is greater than the width of the vessel. But it's unclear
what you mean by "conform to the exterior of the vessel"…could you
clarify?
