I have a JVC 4 head VHS VCR that has the annoying habit of displaying the word PLAY for the first five seconds that a tape rolls. This makes editing difficult. Is there any way to disable this "feature"?

Dave, If you don't get an answer here (and all I can tell you is to read the manual), you might check with the folks in the consumer electronics forum, maybe someone there may know. -John

On my JVC HRS-5000, I go into the MENU and turn it off. Actually, everything (on-screen messages) gets turned off together.
