I just stumbled across your comment during my weekly scan, so I don't know
if this has been mentioned yet, but according to Dale Luck and R.J., the
Sidecar finally passed FCC. As regards the original question, R.J. has said he
doesn't see any problem with various combinations of add-ons and the Sidecar –
can't remember the specifics, but he was asked about a particular product and
said it should work. I think it depends on well-behaved peripherals.

People at or near CBM tell me that the SideCar has passed >most< of FCC
testing, and that the remaining 4 areas are considered no problem (for this
particular hardware) — but that it hasn't actually received FCC
certification yet. That's expected some time next week. The tone of the
rumors ought to change a bit then, stating more definitely that it has

Sounds good to me. Since I heard from two people who had talked to Dale at the
recent Commodore show, it's reasonable to attach various meanings to "Yeah,
Sidecar passed FCC." other than that it passed completely and obtained the
certificate. I would expect an announcement from Andy Finkel or someone else
at West Chester the second the paper is in the hands of CBM. – Jim
I was sitting (well standing actually) in the L.A. Airport Hilton
theatre during =RJ='s lecture on the Amiga when he was told by a personage in
the audience that "The Sidecar had Passed the FCC" testing.
This was the first =RJ= had heard about it. Everyone else too,
apparently.
Mention was also made later at a dinner in a nearby restaurant that
Sidecar is now available "on the streets" (I guess meaning in retail
outlets) in England.
I saw ONE sidecar at the WCCA show… it was in KJ Computer's booth,
and was not operational either day. =RJ= said there'd be a working
example at the show on Sunday, the 2nd/closing day of the show, but
if there was it must've been only for "special" folk, cuz I sure didn't see one
working anywhere!
