#Printer dump
5 messages in this thread
I rented a game called 'Temple of Apshai TRILOGY'. The startup screen is realy
neat looking. I want to know if there is anyway that I can dump what is on the
screen to the printer.(A key combonation or some thing.)

Mike,
There is no built in function like the MS-DOS PrtSc key combination but
programs are available that can do a screen dump. We have one here in DL6
called SCNDMP.EXE and there is a commercial program called GRABBIT that will do
dumps.
I do not know if either will work with Temple.

Well if there's any way to load a printer/screen dumper routine,
such as Scrimper or Scrndump or grabbit and still be able
to load the GAME so your screen dumper doesn't go away, then yes
you should be able to dump the screen. I've dumped (in color)
the title screen and playfield for Chessmaster 2000 this way..
However if the game disk requires that you reboot the computer to
load the game, then when you do that, your memory-resident
screen dumper will go away, and you'll not be able to print the
screen. You might also do a DIR of the game disk and see if the title screen
is there as a freestanding picture file. If that's the case you could
maybe use a p/d viewer or a commercial paint program to look at the
screen and print it, but only if the title screen is freestanding. It could be
imbedded in the program itself in which case you are basically out of luck.
Grabbit's claim to be able to "Print any Screen" is a misnomer since
it makes the assumption that you can hold Grabbit in memory while
you load other software. On a game that requires re-booting to
load, this just isn't possible (yet).
