My new modem is not working, and I just noticed that the interface I am using
with my CBM-64 made by Omnitronix(it is a RS-232) has 10 pins instead of the 9
listed in the USR Courier booklet. This pin is #4 and it is listed as "Request
to Send to Modem", and as I said the Courier doesn't list such a pin. Could
this be why I can't get the modem to dial? Any thoughts. Please HELP, or at
least advise.Scott (P.S. To those of you wondering why I'm using the AMIGA
forum to ask the question, the answer is I've tried elsewhere and no one seems

RTS(4) is a handshaking signal that pairs with ClearToSend(5). Do you have a
MR (modem ready) and TR (terminal ready) light on the USR? If both LEDs are
ON, then any mutual handshaking needs should be satisfied. If TR is OFF, check
your dip switch settings — you may be dip-switched into looking for a
handshake that is not present. There is usually some way of setting any modem
to accept a "no handshake" condition as ok, such as when using only pins 2, 3,
and 7 (send, receive, and ground).
