Nevin,
I am not sure…I haven't received my copy yet from MicroProse. But I
would suspect that MII deprotects it so the stress on the drive would be less.

Ken:
Have you tried to access Discovery Software's BBS? I've tried dozens of
times throught vaious times of the evening/night and I cannot get a good
connection. Every time I connect, I get 3-4 lines in the alternate
character set and then I'm disconnected. Discovery hasn't been too helpful
up to now. I know my terminal setting are correct. Any suggestions?
Nevin
Nevin,
What kind of modem are you using? I have had no problem with my Avatex…
Are you at 8-N-1? Jason
Jason:
I have a SmarTEAM that was set at 1200-8-N-1. Maybe it's just the phone
lines. But you would think that I would get a clean line at least once in
a while. It's been a pretty frustrating experience as Discovery keeps
telling me that "hundreds of other people have used the board with no
problems at all." So tonight I'm talking to this guy there and he tells me
to hang up and call the board. So I do and I get the same result as
always. I call the guy back and no one answered the phone! It's too bad
because I think Marauder II is the best $30.00 I've spent for my Amiga and
Silent Service is great fun. cest le vie…
Nevin
Which terminal pgm are you using then? JASON
Micro-Systems Software's Online! BTW, do you know if they've upgraded Online?
Nevin
As far as I've heard, no. The only real way is to ask them. Jason
Nevin,
I have exactly the same modem as you (SmartTeam) and I have had no
problems…try using AT&T for long distance instead of some other company.
Sounds like a dirty line…
Ken
I've hooked up twice during the day with no problems. Make SURE you are
using 8 bits, NO parity, 1 Stop Bit. It sounds as if you had EVEN parity
set. (Online! defaults to 7E1). –>Steve Bennett
Steve:
Nope. I was using the correct parity setting. I think I was just using dirty
lines.
Nevin
Well… put them in the laundry and clean them up. <grin>

I tried… but when my wife set the dryer's timer to go off at 4:11 p.m. we
got directory assistance. (all right, I know it's weak)
