WILL VIDEX BE AVAILABLE FOR THE AMIGA 1000 IN THE NEAR FUTURE

Nick, While not full vidtex capable, AHost in DL 4 is Vidtex graphics (RLE) capable now. As to when a full vidtex terminal program will be available, that is up to those who write terminal software and/or someone at CIS to think it's a worthwhile project. Don

OK, I'll bite. I just downloaded Ahost 0.9 and am running it right now. I just tried to download some graphics from the vidtex demo and I got a screen full of characters. How do you "kick" it into graphics mode? Thanks again, Clay Cottingham

Clay, Let me get back to you on that…it's real easy, but I'm not at home and can't check out the specifics…I'll get back to you after 10pm Mountain time with an answer for sure. Don

Clay; I use AHost all the time, and have had no problems using RLE graphics anywhere on the system. Of course, if the demo you were looking at was the semi-graphics stuff (CIS-91), what's a different format and won't work with AHost. Same holds true for the NAPLPS generators on some of the financial charting menus. Might as well point out a few neat places to try out AHost's RLE decoder. You have the weather maps (Go MAPS), the FBI Ten Most Wanted list (Go FBI), The Missing Children's database, CB pictures, Hollywood Hotline pictures, Biorythems, MegaWars pictures, and of course the Picture Support Forum (Go PICS). Try a FIND GRAPHICS at any ! and see where that gets you. Doug
