When I am reading messages after they are done and I hit quit, it always exits the program and I have to reload it to read messages from any other forum. Is there a way to go back to the main menu. I couldn't find anything about it in the manual. Thanx Vicky

Vicky, I don't think it's really exiting the program. There's a long pause between Whap! and View!, during which you'll see either your Workbench or CLI, depending which you used. Be patient and eventually the main menu will return. The fastest way to go from forum to forum is to pull down the forum menu with your mouse's right button, and select the next forum that way. This function may be disabled in the demo version, but works fine in the registered version of the program. Lee

O.K. Thanx I'll wait a little longer next time. As far as the 'next forum' option, it must be disabled, cause I don't see one at all on my menu. I just sent for the registered version today, so that will be a feature I'll be looking forward to. Thanx, for the help! Vicky

By any chance are you using WSHell? One of the programs distributed with WShell (SetExecute) interferes with Whap and causes the exact problem your having. If so, try running Whap from the CLI or not using SetExecute. Hope this helps. – Dave

Nope, I'm not using Wshell. Currently I'm running it from WB. I'll try running it from the CLI. I looked at what Dir it was in and they are not in the same Dir. When I put View in the same Dir as Whap and tried to run it, Whap said it couldn't find view so I put it back in the Whap Dir, then I moved Whap into the same dir and tried to run it and Whap didn't even come up at all. I just set it up according to the instrutions and what I ended up with is this.I look in my Tele Dir I see Whap, Whap info, Access and all of the access files, a Whap dir and an Arexx dir. When I open the Whap dir thats where I can find all the whap files and View. Should I get rid of the Whap dir and move all the files from there into my Tele dir.? I just ran the install program for Whap followed the prompts and that's how it ended up. Thanx for the help. Vicky

Vicky, yes. They should all be in the same directory. Either move the Whap! Icon into the drawer or move everybody else up to where Whap! is. I think the reason it couldn't find View is that you can specify where View! is living on the parameters window and you didn't change that at the same time. The way I have it set up here is I have Access, and all it's related files, and Whap!, and of course it's files in the the same drawer. It's kinda messy, but it does work fine. The only two icons I see are for Access and Whap! Brian J. Bartlett

Vicky; It should automagically go back to the main Whap! screen when exiting View! There is something wrong there somewhere. =>73<=, bill =>KB7LX @ K4IWW<=

Hmmmm…. Well I WONDER what it is? Vicky

Vicky; I am not the Whap! expert. Indeed, I have problems of my own with Whap! but not many with View! except for the "Scrolling the top window causes the bottom window to get munged." I do have problems frequently with Whap! while on line, in that it seems to get lost. It will try to join forums for which I am already a member, hang at the forum prompt or hang at a message edit prompt. Sometimes it will recover on its own and sometimes not. =>73<=, bill =>KB7LX @ K4IWW<=

Vicki, Do not hit Quit. Use the menu to select another forum. That would be in the rightmost menu. ……Betty

?????? Iam very confused. I have hit every button in View and nothing. There are pull-down menus on top. They are Save Message, Save Unformated, Save Private, Email, Email-Receipt, Originate, Cancel Reply and Import. On the bottom the buttons say (left to right) Cancel, –/\^^–, Originate, –/\^^–, and Save. When the messages are done the save button says quit and the pull-down menus say someting different, can't remember exactly on the left side but the rightmost menu says Previous session and next session. If I didn't overright the session before thats what that one does and next brings me back to one I had just read. Hope this clears up what I'm seeing on my screen. Thanks for all the help. Vicky

Vicky, Perhaps that menu is only on the registered version. Mine has been registered for so long that I really do not recall whether the demo version had the menu for forums. If it is not on the pull-down menus on the rightmost one, then I suppose it must be something you get when you register. Sorry. ……Betty

Yea, I think your right. I just kept thinking I was missing something. It was kinda driving me crazy. I just sent off for the registered version, so hopefully everything will be running smooth then. It just gets to be a pain to have to reload the program everytime I go from one forum to the next. Thank God I have a HD, I couldn't imagine reloading this much with floppies. 🙂 Thanks again for all your help. Vicky

Vicky, how much memory does the system you have Whap! running on have, especially just before you invoke Whap! ?? Also, open a cli/shell and do a dir whap: and see if both Whap! and View! are listed. They seem to find each other by being in the same directory. (I had the same problem here, and didn't know what was wrong until I put them in the same directory). Brian J. Bartlett

O.K. I'll look at it when I finish here (can't seem to Multitask), but I'm pretty sure they're in the same Dir. I have 5 megs. Vicky
