Don, With the new preferences you can select from graphics mode 0-7. What do each of these graphics modes stand for? I'm just wondering if this has anything to do with the rumored new chip set for the Amiga. Rocco

Rocco, Not having seen the new printer drivers at all…I have no idea what they mean by the graphic modes. Maybe Andy will see this and jump in with an answer. Don

We support more printer densities. We have color correction. We have a simple directional smoother for use when expansing fonts. We added a couple new dithers, and the ability for a driver to implement still more. We added the ability to set the size its going to be; no more fooling around with the margins. And its faster. andy

Andy, Those sound like excellent improvements. Does the sizing include the ability to set a 'pixel width' for doing 1:1 work? Regards, Larry.

yes, you can set it up to have 'pixel limits' rather than inches. andy

Andy, Thanks for the info! There will be a lot of happy people when they find they can do those 1:1 prints. On a more 'today' note… Do you have any idea when the hddisk.device interface will be published? I am interested in passing commands directly to the SCSI interface for things like tape drives or CD-Roms. Regards, Larry.

Sigh. That was a test version of Preferences, not user friendly at all, that the Shakesphere folks accidently used, rather than the real Preferences with the 1.3 printer driver functions. We've contacted them; I expect that they will fix it; in the meantime, with the graphics.library you have, those bits won't do much of anything, except the high one, which is the interlace bit as before. andy

They don't actually do anything with the current graphics.library. Those are the other bits in the byte containing the interlace bit in the preferences structure. andy

Andy, Thanks for the responce, and I appreciate the information. Dare I ask what the graphics modes are supposed to do? (ie there are more graphics modes there then I think my Amiga 2000 supports) Since you would prefer not to mention when, can you attach resolutions/# of colors to the 8 (0 – 7) mentioned modes? Those are just flag bits for a future graphics.library. They are the rest of the bits of the byte containing the interlace bit. They don't do anything right now. andy
