Yet another video problem. I need a way to get the color video
out of my A2000. I thought it was a scream that the latest issue
of Amiga-Something-or-Other magazine devoted the entire issue to
"Desk Top Video" and NOT ONCE did they advertise or advocate or
suggest a video output board for the A2000 that was available NOW.
Here's what I need, guys. An A1000 simulator. I'm serious. I
have an A1000 in service as a loaner because the A2000 doesn't have
an NTSC color output. I have two A2000's on my living room floor
in boxes waiting for the stupid "Video Board" to come out. I don't
even NEED any genlock capability! It really grated on my head
when that other company recalled it's Genlock JUST AS I WAS WRITING
THE CHECK!
Please, please, please. NTSC output from an A2000 for $150 to
$200.

Have you looked at Mimetics 'AmiGen' genlock? It lists for $179.95
and provides NTSC composite video output along with genlock capability.
Check at your local dealer's or call Mimetics at 408-741-0117 to get
the latest information on it.
BTW, the ad for it was on page 70 of the March issue of AmigaWorld,
the desktop video issue.

Right Don, but the AmiGen/ImaGen has been "recalled". I think thats what
Gregory was dissapointed with. Hopefully they'll get them out soon.

I was told that not all units worked properly. I believe the design is being
re-worked.

Im not sure if I read your message correctly, but if all you want is
the Composite Color out like what the A1000 had, it can be yours for under
$50. C-Ltd has such an adapter called the C-View, available with split
Chroma and Lumena or Composite. It does not pass the RGB signal through. I
hear that CBM is marketing a similar device that is passing the RGB signal
through up in Canada and Im working on getting more information on that.

Thank you both for your kind attention and prompt information.
The Mimetics "AmigaGen" was the unit for which I had my check
written and was pulled off the market because of some sort of
design flaw. I have been camping on my dealer's desk for more
information about new release times and dates. My dealer has been
through several distributors and has even called Mimetics. So far,
no luck.
Yes, I do want color output just like the A1000 had, but
unfortunately the A1000 could run both the monitor AND the video
output. My customers have gotten used to seeing the "high" res of
the Amiga monitor and the "rolled off" picture from the NTSC
output at the same time to be able to judge what effects are
possible and what the final program is going to look like.
I am waiting on the last quarter-inch of the edge of my chair
for any information you can get on that CBM-Canada manufactured
unit.

I talked to Ed Lippert yesterday – he told me that he has seen little demand
for a rgb -> composite with a rgb pass-thru. He suggested y connectors on
the rgb – I disagreed. If more people ask for the converter with a pass-thru
he would probably build one – personal opinion of course.
