Ben, I am going to answer your other points later, but feel that I cannot let this last thing pass. No, I am not upset that C Ltd. is going 'strong'. I am, however, upset that they are still treating some people badly. I am upset that you can't seem to understand that the treatment of all their customers is not equal. I very much resent your implication that i have a 'stake' in this because I am working on the Wedge software. My payment for that will take the form of rights to the 2000 version, if and when I ever produce it. Other than that, I get nothing. nada. Zip. Until such time as i do get recompense for that particular work, I have no stake at all in it. I calls 'em as I sees 'em Ben, and I see more dissatisfaction around here with C Ltd than any other feeling. Additionally, I have no connection with ASDG. I did at one time become involved in the argument about hardware problems, and happened to take a stand against Ed lippert's evaluation of the problems, and against his insistence that C Ltd products were designed to the spec. Don't get me wrong Ben. Please read what I say without reading anything else into it. i am generally very careful to say exavtly what I mean, though from the reactions I get, I sometimes have to go back and reread my own messages to see how they could possibly be twisted so badly. regards, Larry.

I have an interesting observation to make; why would they treat some customers different from others? Those with problems here (though I admit there have been few) have not been treated badly; The person who made those postings on usenet seems to be a flamer, somewhat like me – and like me (as andy observed) you cannot take that attitude to the telephone – it won't work. He says C LTD hung up on him? MAkes you think, doesn't it? –Ben–

Ben, Sure, Bob's a flamer, but on the other hand he's a knowledgeable hacker. Note the previous support of C ltd. and the current feeling. I would point out one thing…. there have been numerous complaints here about C Ltd. in the past, and yes, they are fewer and farther between now, but still not oops… but still, there are people here in Vancouver who have yet to be taken care of. I was not exagerrating when I said that one dealer is still waiting for a drive from them that was supposed to have been here last June. Phone calls have produced nothing but promises. The one sad note in all this is that C Ltd has such a bad name around here that even if they smarten up completely, we may never know. Not many are willing to take the chance. Regards, Larry.

Why don't you give me the name of the dealer? I'll make sure that he's either taken care of or you're appraised of why not, or that he's snowing you, or whatever's going on. –Ben–

Ok; Here's the scoop as I understand it, and the current status on the ComputerMan situation. They ordered a store drive; it arrived, worked. Customer orders drive. It arrives, it's broke. Computerman give customer store drive to replace ordered one. Customer returns bad drive to c ltd, NOT via Computerman; c ltd gets it, fixes it. Sends it back. Canada is having postal strike. Package is marked wrong, customs sends it back. about 6 weeks later, they did, that is. C ltd drops ball here – doesn't know where drive came from, COmputerman hasn't called yet… computerman makes call, gentle, not upset… where is drive? C ltd doesn't know. COmputerman follows up in november (last time) but doesn't speak to proper people, msg lost. Drive is at c ltd, parentless. I called Ed; 15 minutes later, he called ComputerMan, who has not spoken to c ltd since november about drive, and isn't sure what the situation is either. As of today, all paperwork located, everybody sure what happened, drive fed-exed to Computerman as of this evening. End of story as I know it. I suggest you cross check this with computerman; should prove interesting to all. It appears to ME that c ltd dropped ball, but, and this is a BIG but, this is NOT a representative case of service for C LTD… it's a multiple-variable mixup, the kind that can get anyone. Has gotten me, as a matter of fact. So….. The way you left the msg that got me off on this implied there were multiple situations needing trouble shooting. Next? –Ben–

ben, Thanks for the help on the Computerman thing. I appreciate it, and so does Ken at Computerman (with reservations… I didn't ask him if I could push things along). The other two here are a case of 'too late now', as they have both gone to other products, and the two on this forum are probably too late as well. One has gone to another product, and the other had to do with a promised TimeSaver that never materialized. I am glad to see that at least things can be expedited with C Ltd. i just wish it wasn't necessary in the first place. I will keep an open mind about them, and see what comes along. Regards, Larry.

ok – btw, I din't push at all – I also have an interest in how c ltd does things, and was kind of testing the water here… so we will see. –Ben–

Ben and Larry: Wheeeeew! You guys are getting pretty steanmed up over this thing. Excuse me for butting in but… I can represent that dealer you are discussing. COMPUTERMAN!! (Registered trade mark of XL-Data Pac) We returned one failed AM-20 (don't have records in front of me) about the 25-May-87. Within a week we received another complete AM-20 sytem that had been n ordered for an employee (namely me). When our cutomer wanted their drive ret returned (a local university) we had to give them the good one. The customer had left it with us for a month which I feel was very reasonalble. Anyway the the replacement unit that we gave them failed about a month later too. We got a few more promises from Lee on the phone… and decided to repair this one ourselves. It is still in service at the university. In the last week COMPUTERMAN!! has got calls from both Ed and Lee (to our great surprise). Lee ofcourse promised to sent us a 50 Meg unit a.s.a.p. OK we'll give em a week and phone them again at which time Lee will promise a 100 Meg unit……. Duane E.. on behalf of Ken Moren, President XL-Data Pac

Sounds interesting – not very businesslike, but interesting. I was told your stuff was fed-xed as of yesterday evening. Depending on various f-x options, I would expect you to have the stuff no later than tuesday. As for fixing the drive yourself, well, I suppose… That's what I would do, too; but I think my reasons are a little different, actually… meanwhile, *I'm* not steamed in the least. Just an interested party, and not willing to stand by quietly when things fly by that I disagree with – no matter WHAT the subject is. Larry and I disagree regularly. No harm done, hopefully. None here, that's for sure. –Ben–
