SoftCircuits will be entering Beta test for our own proprietary "Fast File System" for hard drives very shortly (30-60 days) and wishes those interested in Beta testing to contact us via EMAIL or directly on this forum. This FFS is written completely in the 68000's assmbler language, and put's CBM's FFS, which is written in (yechhh) BCPL, to utter shame. This FFS offers full compatability with all your current software that can use normal disks, floppy or otherwise. It is currently functional, and is now undergoing surgery for a number of well understood shortcomings. This FFS will take less than 15k of your memory, and raise the performance of your hard drives to beyond that of an AT — even with programmed I/o. DMA systems will benefit even more. –Ben–

We would be interested in beta testing your new Fast File system here at Johnson Space Center. We have 3 Amigas and are currently developing Computerized Exercise Motivation Software for use on Space Station. We have a 43 meg Byte by Byte Pal Sr. system and a 30 meg CLtd HD on another. We have been beta test sites for the Absoft Basic Compiler, prototype Genlocks, and other hardware and software items. If you think we might be able to help, let me know. PS. GREAT Job on the new CLtd Driver, works like a charm. Later, Greg

First, thanks for the good words… Wayne Miller wrote the driver portion of the system… I'll tell him you're happy. We are both "Space freaks" and I know he would be tickled to know you're using it. I only did the user interface and the anylisis of the old driver and the bugs therin. Secondly, you're on the list… I'll let you know immediately we have code that isn't likely to trash your drive! <grin> –Ben–
