Thats Amazing… that you should suggest that those of us who paid good money and wasted two years plus on waiting, 1.5 and 1.6 and 1.61 should now go out and pay 150+ to get a better manual that by rights should bve mailed to us free of charge!! Fred, your partisanship makes you a poor beta tester and a worse spokesman for the product. The truth of the matter is that 1.8 is the first real release of the product. All previous releases were alpha and beta test quality stuff. Now since we PAID for a RELEASE quality version of the software and manuals, that is what we should get. Thanks for informing us "loyal" PageStream users that we are being screwed again in the manual department. As for all the bugs I reported I stand behind every one reported here as all were reported to SL with accompaning disks. The only reponse I got from them was a half-assed attempt to attribute all the bugs to "improper use" of the program. What does that mean? If a pilot of one of my flight control systems puts in forward stick when I think he should be rolling, and I roll him upside down and he crashes than I can say the sucker deserved to die 'cause he didn't use the program right? Come off it! Program stability and robustness should NOT be dependant on the user knowing exactly what steps the developer had in mind to accomplidh some goal and if at cerain times, certian operations are detrimental to the system LOCK THEM OUT. <continued>

Well, I guess I shouldn't have assumed that you would have caught my post about a week ago regarding the upgrade policy. And where do you come off assuming what the upgrade policy is WITHOUT ONE BIT OF FACT ??? I"ll repeat……The 1.8 upgrade disk is FREE to registered owners of Pagestream. Those wishing to receive the NEW MANUAL along with the 3 disk set can do so for $25.00 !!! (Thats a far cry from your $150 plus that you seemed to pull out of the air!) It is "forked tongued" statements like yours that some people will unfortunately believe. So, all you "loyal" users are not getting "screwed" to the tune of $150!. This was the first program I beta tested so I'm not an expert but I have learned a lot. I'm not trying to be a spokesman for S-L but rather help those get over the learning curve easier. I would agree 1.5 shouldn't have been released but I don't think S-L would have survived to release 1.8 if they had skipped releasing 1.6/1.61 Well, I hope any pilot that flies one of your flight control systems has read your manual thoroughly. I would hate to think he would have to make a guess…"I wonder what that the proper procedure is for …………….." (fill in the blank) (by the way….that was a poor analogy) Your statement about program stability and robustness is a fair one! What type of graphic are you trying to load into PgS (IFF, EPS, IMG) ??? <continued>

<continuation> How large is the file on disk? I don't know if you are doing something wrong or not but if you're still having trouble I'd like to take a stab at importing it myself. If I can print it I'll mail you a copy ASAP. If not, I'll post a msg here why I couldn't get PgS to import it and print it. (On a DeskJet +) Can't files be uploaded to others thru EMAIL??? later!

Fred The file is BENGAL.LZH which still should be in LIB 1 of the Arts forum. I've tried using the file as unarc'd and as captured to IFF from ScreenX. The problem is tring to rotate it to Portrait from landscape, then reposition it on a page and resized to full 8.5×11. With show picture off, the box outline behaves incorrectly and trying to reposition on an 11×17 after rotating caused the pic to jump off the page, rotate to 88 deg and twist 181!! Multiple attempt to correct the mishandling results in a program crash. As to the manual/3 disk update, there is no such announcement in the one disk upgrade, under seperate notice, by advertisement or any other announcement except by your statements here ( and you are not a legal represnetative/employee of the company). The other thing you keep ignoring is that SL lied to those of us who took the bait when the program was advertised as Publisher Partner or some such. And they continued to lie for nearly 2 years!!! They even lied to me about the 1.7/1.8 release by 8 months. Then they returned my bug reports (without the disks I sent with the examples on them) 8 months after I mailed them in with the statement that they were TOO BUSY TO READ THEM!!! Thats telling your customer just what you think of them!!! Then to add insult to injury, they put that rubbish in the update package about all the wonderful response they had… I honestly believe that was a cynical attempt on their part to irritate those of us who let it be known we didn't appreciate their lying by lying some more. wmc
