Don, a while back I came across a discussion you had with a member about
HALFBRITE. I have determined that my A1000 does not have it; not a great
handicap but I do wonder whether it would be possible to retrofit my machine
with HALFBRITE (a bit of software now is coming out using HALFBRITE). Also,
if you have used Commodore GENLOCK for A1000, you have noticed that the unit
being mounted in the back and under the CPU makes it difficult to operate its
controls and check the cabling. I wonder if it would be possible to simply
bring the unit from its invonvenient location by using and extension cable
(from REDMONT cables for example)??

Roger, any Amiga Service center should have the Denise chip. The Halfbrite
Denise chip is standard replacement stock.

Thanks, GreG, I think I will check into it since a number of software
developersare making the effort to better use the unique features of the
AMIGA.

Yes, you can replace one chip (Denise I think) with a rev 6 or higher
chip and it will have HALFBRITE. Be aware thou….last I saw, the chip with
installation was going for $70.
I see no problem with using extension cables with GenLock, but
haven't tried it.

We've used a short (1 foot) extension cable with Genlock, with no problems.
