#Lost File!

hello, after doing some heavy i/o on my master C source code 5-1/4"
drive , and trying to 'read' my #include MyDef.h file , the compiler
load it up but to my surprise it was EMPTY! , for some reasons the
file got zapped!, question : anybody knows how can I recover this
file or do we have a utility in the DL's that might recover the file
or is there a program out there that is similar to Norton utilities

Ed,
As long as the file didn't get overwritten, DSKSLV.ARC in DL 10
should be able to recover the file; however, as a precaution…I'd do a
DISKCOPY from you master to a new disk and run DSKSLV against the new disk.

Hazy's disksavl may help. At least you can write protect the disk
before you try so that if it does not do the job at least you will not have
done any additional damage (ie. you could still go in with diskzap and try
recovering one sector at a time). 73, bill

You are welcome! The mention that Don made about running disk copy is
a good idea of course however, in some cases that is not possible if the
structure of the disk has become corrupt. If you use DiskDoctor instead of
DiskSav you definately want to make a copy first if at all possible since
DiskDoctor actually writes to the disk. If the disk can not be copied
(validation error) then always try disksalv first then diskdoctor
(occassionally diskdoctor will recover more of a file than disksalv).
