#Herc Troubles

John,
I hate to ask this, but what was the condition that your friend "gave" you
his old AutoCAD? Unless he sold/gave it to you, complete, and you are now
assuming the registration this is a serious violation of the software's
copyright.
Old version or not this is not legal. Besides 2.62 isn't all that old, it is
the version prior to Release 9 and quite powerful just the same.
I hate being the heavy, but if you don't own the software you better erase
it.
Please supply me <in Email> with a valid registration as I would like to be
able to offer you support as a legitimate user, through this forum.

Yes, he did give me the whole AutoCAD package, lock, stock, manual, disks,
etc. I'm no pirate, I'm a software developer, I do a lot of "playing the
heavy" myself. I'll forward the registration number to you in easyplex. Do
you request this of all users who ask questions in this forum? My original
message explicitly stated I had the manual – that doesn't sound like I'm a
pirate.
Whoops, I take that back. My original message didn't state I had the
manual. I feel funny about this. *I* know I didn't pirate this, and you
don't know I didn't. Another 24 hours to wait for an answer, I guess.
No problem, I checked the serial number and it is still registered to your
friend. Please makes steps to resolve that. I didn't really think you
were a pirate, they seldom make statements like "software my friend gave
me". But it did seem odd so I had to "put my foot down". <sorry> For the
time being, I see no problem in giving you the benefit of the doubt.
As for the display problem, did you get it solved? Some herc clones don't
hold up to spec and will cause display problems. You may want to try
adjusting the monitor.
