#FILE TRANSFER

I AM A FIRST TIME ADESK USER. I WOULD LIKE TO DOWNLOAD A FILE CALLED
BREAKL.LSP. I AM USING THE CROSSTALK PROGRAM ON AN IBM PC. I START A FILE
TRANSFER FROM THE DATA LIBRARY, THE SWITCH TO THE COMMAND MODE IN CROSSTALK.
THE I TYPE RXMODEM. THE IT ASKS FOR A FILE TO TRANSFER. I TYPE BREAKL.LSP AND
HIT RETURN. COMMAND LINE SAYS,"FILE TRANSFER CANCELLED". WHAT AM I DOING
WRONG? ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED. THANKS. CHARLIE

I am not familiar with Cross-Talk. I would suggest another protocol for
transfer, though RXmodem (Relaxed Xmodem) should work.
If you have Protocol B use that.
One you have solved that problem, please consider downloading either ATO
(AutoSIG) or TAPCIS from the IBMCOM forum. Both are excellent programs
designed to work exclusively with CompuServe and will save you money
immediately when it comes to reading message traffic.
(Oh yeah, CAPS LOCK off next time please)

Actually RXMODEM is Croostalkeese for Recieve-Xmodem and initiates good
old checksum Xmodem in Crosstalk. As far as I know, Crosstalk does not
support the "relaxed" form of this protocol. The Croostalk proprietary
protocal as really only used to transfer files between to systems both
running Crosstalk (or one of it's clones) and gets initied with just a
RECIEVE command! That concludes totday's tutorial!

Well it sound like it doesn't like CompuServe's Xmodem. I am reviewing TAPCIS
now and will let you know if it makes me switch. You know John with your MAC,
you may want to get a copy of Navigator. It is the best thing I have seen
yet.
