DPII Upgrade ?

I read in Amazing Computing that an update is being offered to owners of
DPII. The update fixes a problem with accessing the hard disk, and only
applies to users whose DPII displays a DH: in the file requestor. My DPII
does this. My question is this: Is this a "for real" update, can I really get
a new DPII by sending in my original diskette?
Also, I noticed that the Art Disk has a "bug" in it as well. There is a brush
on the disk called building, but when you load it, it doesn't look anything
like a building. The tutorial is written as if the brush really is a
building. Can I get an update to the Art Disk as well?

Gene, It appears that Amazing Computing made a mistake. We do not know who
they talked to or how they got their information, but from what I understand,
we are asking for a retraction.
There is no upgrade available such as they mention in their blurb. If you
presently own Dpaint Amiga protected and want the unprotected version, there
is a $20 dollar charge.
As to the art disk BUILDING brush, there was a problem with that brush that
has been corrected. The building brush is a very very basic building –> you
can do the tutorial with basically any brush. If you absolutely need that
brush, we can send it to you on disk. What you should do is send us a letter
detailing the difficulty that you ran into and what you want (the brush

Ok, Todd, I understand. I thought there was something funny about their info,
since you usually hear about these things on the nets before you see it in
print. I'm glad I checked. I'll probably send in the art disk for an update,
I just like to receive stuff in the mail <grin>.

Gene, No problem with the art disk file, but don't send in the entire disk.
Just a letter stating that you want the file — and include a disk that we
can put the building brush file on. We'll be glad to send it back with the
file.

Gene, I haven't gotten my copy of AC yet (they ALWAYS send me mine after they
ship to everyone else)… where was this false information? In the ROOMERS
column by any chance?

No, Rick, It wasn't the roomers column, it was in the Bug Bytes, on page 29.
This was in Volume 3, number 3.
It couldn't have been in the roomer column could it? I mean, don't you know
"The Bandito" quite well, he wouldn't have printed something you wouldn't
know about would he? <grin>
Or am I mistaken about the relationship?
