I think you missed part of the point of Royal. With Royal (as with Display
PostScript, BTW) there don't have to be any pre-created screen fonts. They
are created on the fly. You can, on the Mac at least, pre-create some sizes
of screen font, but the only advantage to doing so would be if you didn't
like Royal's own versions of that screen font, i.e. they are completely
optional if you'll just let Royal do the screen fonting for you.
Thus any Royal font should be fully and easily transportable between a Mac
and an OS/2 machine. There aren't any screen fonts to convert.

You can achieve the same effect with ATM (creating screen fonts on the fly,
that is). As for portability … screen fonts are not the only present
problem with Adobe. Printer fonts, as well, are not transportable across
platforms except by resorting to the subterfuge of creating ASCII versions
of fonts. Given the different file formats of PC and Mac, it will be
interesting to see how Royal deals with this issue.

When you say there aren't any screen fonts to convert with the Royals,
where does the font metric information reside? Is there something similar
to the ATM file that Adobe uses, or is it somehow imbedded into the outline
file?
Also, everyone keeps talking about the Adobe Type 1 spec release which will
be released as a Red Book extension published by Addison-Wesley and easily
obtainable. I'd love to see the Royal font specs and can't seem to figure
out where to get a hold of them. APDA doesn't have it listed in its lastest
catalog. Certified Apple developers got copies, but do you have any idea
how the general public can obtain a copy?

Royal metrics reside in Royalty itself. Have you ever seen a FOND?
If APDA doesn't have the Royal specs, I don't know where you can get them.
