I would agree, given all the conditions you mentioned, but it definitely
is none of my business how the matter is treated at CBM. If the people in
charge are allowing employees to 'goof off', whether it be by reading gobs
of Usenet postings or by hanging around the water cooler, then either there
is time for it, or someone will catch it. <shrug>
You've never heard of the 'boss key' – how fast could someone change the
screen, if someone looked over their shoulder, while they were reading
Usenet? CBM has lots of internal troubles, from what I've heard, including
rapid turnover in many departments. The people we know, are the lifers.
There are dozens who lurk behind the scenes.
Of course I've heard of a 'boss key' John. It isn't exactly unique to CBM.
But, don't let that stop you from sticking your nose into their business
anyway. Have you ever considered getting a job with them?
Come on, everyone who gripes here is sticking their nose in CBM's business.
I've often argued that, strange as it may seem, CBM's management is more
qualified to make decisions than any group of users, simply because they
have access to more inside information about the company. I don't see how
this connects to where I should work. Do you think my ideas are so good
that I should work there, or are you banishing me to Hell? 🙂
