Help! I thought that Whap! didn't support private messages or unformatted saves, but there is a menu on the bar in View! for both of these options as well as mail within a forum. What's the story? Nothing I have done makes them work, and there is nothing in the manuals about it! Confused, John

There are no plans at this time to support private messages. I would not be suprised if private messages are done away with completely — no knowledge here, just surmise, as CIM does not support private messages.

Steve, I asked–again–because I just noticed the menu in View! that includes saving unformatted and private messages. Do you intend to support either of these options, and do you intend to support EMAIL from the forums? I talked with Betty about it last night and she said that it was something you abandoned. If so, oh well. I've got to say that I've used Navigator, ATO, and WHAP! regularly. Whap is by far the easiest to use of the three–and the most reliable. I couldn't let Navigator alone for fear of god-knows-what happening! Thanks for a great little program. <grin> John Kominetz

There are no plans to support private messages (putting that on a macro key).

Steve: We all understand that Whap! will not support private messages. But, the last half of John's message to you compared Whap! and two other programs (ATO and Navigator ???), and declared Whap! the winner. I would consider that a compliment if I were the author.

Bill, I do — but that honor should go to Jim — I'll take the blame for View! (which is what does not support private msgs or unformated saves — the ghosted menu items are there but should have been removed).

Steve: I think when someone says that Whap! is better than ATO or Navigator, they probably mean the entire package (not Whap! excluding View!). I really think it would be alright for you to accept some of the praise also.

A program is like a piece of music to me. I *can* appreciate each instrument or voice, but it is the total effect that I truly enjoy. When I said that Whap! is the best, I meant that Whap!, View!, and *even* Whapterm together are more enjoyable and useful than the collections that are ATO and Navigator. John

John, WhapTerm was included only because it is VERY small. WhapTerm was originally written by Luciano Bertato. He called it SimpleTerm and released it to the public domain (the source is in the libraries). Jim Nangano modified it to allow for baud rate changes (without having to recompile it — that was how SimpleTerm handled different baud rates). At any rate, I use Access! as my interactive terminal. -sja

Does anybody else ever ask you about this, or is this macro key dedicated to little-old-me? <grin> John

Hehehe — I get asked that all the time.

Well, I know a certain person in the RPGAMES forum that'll come over here and ask the same question–yes, again! Guess I'll head her off at the pass before she gets her registration patch and wonders why the "post private" option isn't working… John
